You can get anything I want at Italia Uno on Charlotte Street in the heart of Fitzrovia, London.
Delicious food in a cosy atmosphere at a friendly price – what else are you after on a Saturday afternoon?
For fifty squid, four people dined here on panini, baked aubergine, lasagna and bolognese, with excellent soft drinks, followed by slices of torta della nonna all around, matched with powerful coffees. I can personally attest to the deliciousness of the lasagna, generously topped with parmesan. Everyone else left their plates empty. The tart was exquisite, full of aroma and of a sweetness that was just right – it would put any supermarket cheesecake to shame.

The place has an oldfashioned vibe and multiple TV screens showing Italian channels. The Italian customers who were in at the same time as ourselves were there for a reason.

Apparently it is a student favourite too and rightly so. Long may it thrive.
